The former head of the Lincoln (NE) Fire Department has been selected to lead the city of Baltimore (MD) Fire Department.
The Baltimore Sun said (http://bit.ly/1chpkas) that Niles Ford, 48, a career firefighter who most recently was the manager of a small city in Georgia, will reportedly take over as fire chief in January. Ford will helm the department as it undergoes major changes, including a schedule change and the loss of 140 firefighter positions through attrition.
Ford was among a “handful” of finalists selected by search firm Gans, Gans & Associates, a Florida firm contracted to undertake the search, according to Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
