St. Louis (MO) Firefighter and Two Others Hurt in Overnight Fires

One firefighter, and two people who were staying in a vacant building, were injured in separate overnight fires in St. Louis, reports CBS St. Louis.

Fire Department Captain Gregg Favre tells KMOX the firefighter was hurt while battling what was a raging fire in a home at East Carter and Fair, “It was a minor injury, a burn, that happened during a firefighting operation.”

Favre says the firefighter was treated on the scene and returned to work.

The fire apparently started in the basement at about 5:30 am. Flames engulfed the basement and both floors of the two-story home. Favre says smoke alarms alerted the man who lived there, and he was able to get out on his own before firefighters arrived on the scene. Investigators are trying to determine the cause.
