Connecticut Mother Dies from Fire that Killed Daughter

The 43-year-old mother of two girls who was rescued from a fire on Bedford Street on Tuesday but was critically burned died of her injuries Wednesday night, reports The Hartford Courant.

Susan Therrien was the second victim of the fire. Her 4-year-old daughter, Shantay Drake, died at the scene Tuesday morning. Her other daughter, Kayla Drake, 6, survived.

Fire Chief Carlos M. Huertas said he is offering his thoughts and support to the families on behalf of the Hartford Fire Department. Mayor Pedro E. Segarra also attended the vigil Thursday with Hartford state Rep. Douglas McCrory.
