Firefighters responded to a late night fire at a senior living facility that displaced dozens on the island of Venice, Florida.
The fire reportedly began in a microwave, according to a WWSB report (http://bit.ly/1zGdyCE), and triggered the automatic sprinkler system, which put the fire out but caused extensive damage to an entire wing of the facility. The system dumped about three inches of water.
No one was injured in the fire.
Fires at these type of facilities present numerous challenges for firefighters and responders, including evacuating the structure and other considerations.
