St. Louis Fire Apparatus Stuck in Sinkhole

A St. Louis (MO) fire apparatus got stuck in a sinkhole for about two hours this morning en route to an emergency call.

According to a report on stlouistoday.com (http://bit.ly/1nwp5Ln), the fire truck was responding to a report of a 62-year-old man who collapsed on a sidewalk when it became stuck in pavement up to its axle on a partly collapsed street.

The medic unit responding with the apparatus made it to the scene to find the patient already dead.

The rig was removed from the hole by 8 a.m. Crews used an air bag to raise the truck, then put a steel plate over the hole and drove the apparatus away.

No one on the fire truck was injured in the incident.
