Cal Fire said the firefighters’ injuries are serious, but not life threatening.
A helicopter arrived at UC Davis Medical Center just after 10:15 p.m. carrying five of the eight injured firefighters. The five are inmate firefighters assigned to hand crews with Cal Fire. The three others are government firefighters assigned to engines.
Cal Fire cannot describe the extent of their injuries yet, nor explain how the injuries happened — it is still under investigation.
