Fort Worth Apartment Fire Claims Female Victim

FORT WORTH — Firefighters Friday morning discovered a woman’s body while putting out a fire in her residence near Hulen Mall in southwest Fort Worth, according to officials. Her identity had not been released by authorities as of Friday.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm shortly after 8 a.m. Friday at the River Ranch apartment complex in the 4700 block of King Ranch Road, just west of Hulen Mall.

“As firefighters were on there way, the call changed to an apartment fire,” said fire department spokesman Tim Hardeman on Friday. When they arrived, firefighters saw light smoke coming out of an apartment, Hardeman said.

The fire was contained by a sprinkler system in the apartment, and firefighters extinguished it in a matter of minutes.

“Once the fire was out, the body was discovered,” Hardeman said
