Mayday, Firefighter Injured in Pennsylvania House Fire

A Mayday was called and a firefighter was reportedly carried unconscious from a building during a multiple-alarm house fire today in Mt. Carmel in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.

A report on newsitem.com (http://bit.ly/1GePacX) indicated that CPR was performed on the down firefighter outside the home. The injured firefighter was reportedly flown from the scene.

The early afternoon fire affected at least six homes, the report said. All residents reportedly escaped.

Few details were available on the firefighter’s current condition.

UPDATE (3/17/2015): The injured firefighter was identified (per WBRE) at Fire Chief Jim Reed Sr. of American Hose Company. He was reportedly in critical condition after collapsing on the fireground.

Earlier this month, 18-year-old Lawrence Township firefighter Jeffrey Buck was badly injured in Clearfield County (PA) fire and later died from the injuries he sustained.
