Fire heavily damaged six units in the Stonebridge Apartments complex late Tuesday night, displacing at least 14 people, reports The Hartford Courant.
No injuries were reported, and all residents seemed to be accounted for, according to Gary Feldman Sr., chief of the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department. One firefighter was injured when she fell on ice, he said.
The fire was confined to one building at the rear of the multi-building complex at 159 Pinney St., Feldman said. The fire was reported about 9:30 p.m., and firefighters had the fire under control in about 90 minutes, he said.
“I was in the scene in three minutes and it was already burning through the roof,” Feldman said.
At about 9:45 p.m., the smoke and fire was visible from the road and firefighters could be seen angling a stream of water at the fire.
Four units in the building were severely damaged by fire, and two others had serious smoke or water damage, Feldman said.
