The Staten Island Advance (http://bit.ly/1bfM3YP) reported that two teenage brothers were home when the older brother smelled smoke coming from their basement. They found flames, and called 911 and alerted neighbors.

FDNY firefighters arrived minutes later as fire engulfed the lightweight wood frame structure and partially spread to attached homes.

Thirteen FDNY members suffered minor injuries in the fire, the report said. It took two hours to control the fire, to which 170 firefighters responded, according to the report.

Fire photographer Steve White was on scene to capture some photos from the incident.
