Henderson and Las Vegas firefighters will launch the fifth annual “Check Your Seats in the Heat… Because Heat Kills” safety outreach campaign with a press conference to be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Las Vegas Fire Station 6, 1680 S. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89146.

Because heat knows no jurisdictional boundaries, the Henderson and Las Vegas locals have partnered together to get this crucial message out to the public. The campaign aims to spread awareness and remind motorists of the dangers of leaving children and pets in hot vehicles during the summer months. The campaign also includes the distribution of safety awareness ribbons to serve as reminders to motorists, as well as posters to hang in local businesses.

Scott Johnson, president of the Las Vegas Firefighters, said, “This effort is so important for everyone to be thinking about during the hot summers in Las Vegas. We want to do everything we can to get the word out to prevent these tragedies from happening to any family in our communities.”

Dan Pentkowski, president of the Henderson Professional Firefighters, says, “We are lucky to have such great community partners and volunteers that support this safety outreach effort. This message is incredibly important for every Valley resident, and we’re thankful that more people will hear it because of these partnerships.”

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Henderson City Councilman John Marz, Las Vegas Fire Chief William McDonald and Henderson Fire Chief Steve Goble will be speaking at the press conference. Emergency vehicles will be on display, and various campaign materials, such as awareness ribbons and posters, will be available for distribution.
