A Detroit EMT has been fired after apparently refusing to help a dying baby, according to a report from WDIV.
Detroit (MI) Fire Commissioner Edsel Jenkins said Ann Marie Thomas’s employment with the Detroit Fire Department has been terminated, according to the report.
Thomas reportedly refused to respond to a scene where a baby was not breathing and her mother was calling for help. The 8-month-old patient was just a two-minute drive away, the report said.
The report said an ambulance eventually got the baby to a hospital, and, although the infant was revived, she subsequently died.
