California Firefighter Falls Through Roof of Restaurant

A firefighter battling a blaze fell through the roof of an Indian restaurant near Miramar Wednesday morning, reports Fox 5 San Diego.

Heavy smoke was spotted billowing from the roof of the Bombay Grill on Miramar Road near Distribution Avenue about 9:50 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.  Smoke was also seen pouring out of the doors of adjacent businesses, a witness told FOX 5.

Several firefighters were on the roof of the business complex when one of them fell through it, according to a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department official.  He was seen walking to the ambulance on his own before being taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the damages was not immediately released. The eatery was scheduled to open at 11 a.m., according to its website.
