Firefighters battled a large two-alarm fire Wednesday at hotel in Norfolk, Virginia.
A hundred firefighters responded to the scene, according to a report on WAVY, and the incident was made more difficult by the heat.
“Pretty involved when units arrived,” Norfolk Fire Battalion Chief Julian Williamson. “They had smoke showing from the second floor, up in the attic spaces.” Video showed massive black plumes of smoke pouring from the structure. Fire crews ultimately ending up operating on the exterior, according to the report.
Two ambulances also transported civilians to a local hospital for medical conditions that were not related to the fire, the report said.
Update (8/10/2015): The Virginia Pilot reported that more than 60 violations were issued to the owner of the Norfolk hotel that caught fire Wednesday.
