Chicago Firefighter Bringing Six Semi Trucks Filled with Bottled Water to Flint

Chicago firefighter Eric Washington and a team of friends will wrap up efforts today to get donations of bottled water for the people of Flint (MI), reports

Washington created a GoFundMe page a few weeks ago, hoping to raise some money in order to buy water for Flint residents. His fundraising efforts were a huge success, raising more than $17,000 through the web site. He also collected truckloads of bottled water.

Washington appeared on the WGN Morning Show earlier in the week.  He said he was planning to fill six semi-trucks with water and drive to Flint Saturday afternoon. Washington said he was inspired to help people.  He said as a firefighter, he feels the need to help others beyond his time on the job.

He is collecting donated water for a few hours Saturday morning before heading to Michigan.
