The Rural Metro Fire Department (RMFD) in Knox County, Tennessee, responded to a structure fire Wednesday afternoon.
First due RMFD Engine-230 found a working basement fire on the C/D corner of a single-family residence. There was fire showing and also auto exposure that was threatening the first floor and attic.
An aggressive interior attack found a fire in a room in the basement that had been converted to a bedroom. Companies fought 20 mph winds which hampered suppression efforts.
Batt 284 (Bagwell) had command. They had a good water supply from a nearby hydrant and more than sufficient resources.
The fire was knocked down quickly, but there was a need for extensive overhaul.
Three persons were displaced by the fire and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The fire remains under investigation.
