Today marks the 40th anniversary of the official incorporation of the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC). We are proud to serve as the voice of the volunteer fire, EMS, and rescue services, and to provide critical resources, advocacy, programs, and benefits to help volunteer personnel thrive.
To commemorate this milestone, Rep. Bill Pascrell, Chairman of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, issued a statement on the House of Representatives floor recognizing the NVFC and our work to support our nation’s fire and emergency services..
We have also released a retrospective of the organization to provide our members and supporters with a historical look at both the NVFC and the fire service over the past 40 years, with specific attention given to key areas such as legislation, health and safety, recruitment and retention, and training. This publication is available for download on the NVFC web site, or order a print copy in the NVFC store.
We appreciate everyone who took part in our 40th anniversary contest. Many of the submitted profiles will appear in upcoming issues of the NVFC’s Dispatch newsletter and on our web site. 40 randomly selected entrants will also receive a special NVFC prize pack. View the list of prize pack winners.
We remain committed to serving the boots on the ground volunteer firefighters, EMTs, and rescue providers that protect our nation every day. Thank you for your support in helping to keep the NVFC strong. Our state associations, members, advocates, corporate partners, and other supporters are the key to our success. Through the Council, we have proven that we have a much stronger, more effective voice when we stand together.
