The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Chief Tony Spencer III, 51, of Engelhard Fire & Rescue on May 31, 2018.
On 05/31/2018 at 2100hrs, Chief Tony Spencer III finished participating in a Firefighter I & II Hose certification class. A few hours later at approximately 0130hrs on 06/01/2018, Chief Spencer suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence and was airlifted to Norfolk Medical Center. Chief Spencer passed away on 06/03/2018 at Norfolk Medical Center from the injuries sustained.
