Fire Life

Skypeathon!

Hi, boys and girls!

Welcome to Molly’s Kids Zone on Firelife.com!

My name is Molly, and I am a real fire dog. I love teaching fire safety to children.

One of the things I like about being a fire dog and mascot is being able to travel the United States sharing fire safety with boys and girls just like you!

SKYPEATHON!

I love Skyping!

Thanks to the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation’s corporate partner, State Farm, we have been able to Skype with schools and organizations from all over the world. Isn’t that super pawsome?

During the Microsoft in Education Skypeathon in November, we had over 100 requests to Skype with me. A record number! We were happy to have been able to fulfill most of the requests.

2018 Skypeathon was a huge hit!

During the Skypeathon, I Skyped 46 programs in 48 hours with 991 children and 203 adults from 16 countries and 203 adults. I “traveled” 164,719 virtual miles!

I was honored to be representing the United States and even though it was a long two days it was totally worth it!

We made a video to share our experience from the big day! Hope you like it!

MICROSOFT VIDEO

Microsoft Education selected my fire safety Skype program to be filmed as part of the 2018 #Skypeathon with pawmazing students from the Danesville School in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, England during the 2018 skypeathon.

I was very honored!

Watch the very special video here!

Thank you, Microsoft and Danesville School!

FIRE SAFETY TIP: MAKE SURE YOUR GROWN-UPS WATER THE CHRISTMAS TREE EVERYDAY

Here are some safety tips for your grown-ups!

· Only use decorations that are flame-retardant or not flammable.

· Check holiday lights each year for frayed wires or excessive wear.

· Don’t link more than three strands of holiday lights.

· Never leave a burning candle unattended. Consider using battery-operated flameless candles.

· Keep your live Christmas tree away from heat sources and room exits.

· Water your live Christmas tree daily to keep it from becoming dry.
