Honeywell (NYSE: HON) and DuPont (NYSE: DD) announced today that applications are now being accepted for scholarships that will award 20 first responders with an expenses-paid (airfare/hotel/educational sessions) trip to the 2020 Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC), the fire industry’s premier training and networking event and technology exhibit. FDIC will be held April 20-25, 2020, at the Indianapolis Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.
To be considered for the scholarship, a firefighter, emergency medical technician, paramedic or other first responder professional must be nominated by a colleague from their department. Firefighters can nominate their peer and get more information by visiting the FDIC website.
“We are proud to offer this merit-based scholarship to firefighters for the sixth consecutive year,” said Tom Rozema, general manager of Honeywell’s First Responder division. “It is a great opportunity for us to highlight individuals that are not only setting the gold standard for service, courage and selfless dedication, but have demonstrated an intense desire for education and training. The Honeywell-DuPont scholarship offers a true grassroots benefit to communities because firefighters come back to their departments inspired and eager to share fresh knowledge and tactics from their training.”
“DuPont remains honored to support this important program that helps firefighters receive advanced training to continue their professional development, and we look forward to welcoming the 2020 scholarship recipients at FDIC,” said David Domnisch, global leader for DuPont Personal Protection.
The FDIC scholarship has provided advanced training to over 100 first responders, many of whom have gone on to become teachers or leaders in the fire service. Honeywell launched the annual program in 2014 and DuPont has served as co-sponsor since 2015.
