NC Fire Captain Killed in Crash

News reports indicate that a fire captain has died in a crash while responding to the scene of a different accident.

According to WLOS, Jonathan Creek Volunteer Department Captain Claud G. Messer, 74, died when his truck collided with a logging truck.

Messer was reportedly a founding member of the volunteer fire department, which had been founded in 1986.

No charges have been filed in the incident, thus far.

The U.S. Fire Administration report:

While operating a fire department vehicle, Captain Claud Messer was involved in a vehicle accident on Jonathan Creek Road (Highway 276 North) as he responded to another emergency traffic accident call. Messer passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident.
