On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, two unsupervised young children set a Spring (TX) motel ablaze while playing with a lighter. The three-alarm fire demanded the attention of multiple aerial apparatus and crews from Spring, Ponderosa, South Montgomery County, The Woodlands, Klein, and Little York Fire Departments.

Spreading rapidly, the fire consumed much of the three-story structure. Several rescues were made and seven people were transported to area hospitals, including two children.

That this occurred during Fire Prevention Week made it even more tragic.
