Memorial details have been announced for late Worcester (MA) Fire Lieutenant Jason Menard, who died earlier this week helping other firefighters escape a structure fire.
According to CBS Boston, the funeral is set for 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at Mercadante Funeral Home, with the funeral set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Church.
According to westernmassnews.com, Menard’s death was the ninth line-of-duty death for the department in the last 20 years. The Menard family was scheduled to depart for a vacation to Disney World after his shift ended Wednesday, according to a report from CBS.
The same reported noted that Menard helped a probationary firefighter to the stairs before returning to rescue another firefighter by helping him out the window. Firefighter Chris Pace, who was injured in the four-alarm fire, was as of Wednesday in an intensive care unit.
