AL Fire Chief Dies from Medical Emergency

The fire chief for Homewood (AL) Fire and Rescue Service died on January 10 from an undetermined medical emergency, according to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).

The USFA reports that on Friday, Fire Chief John A. Bresnan, 58, was found unresponsive in his office at the Homewood Fire and Rescue Service.  He was immediately transported to Brookwood Baptist Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased from a medical emergency that has yet to be determined.

Chief Bresnan had 39 years of service. His death is the third firefighter fatality reported to the USFA in 2020.
