A lawsuit has been filed in federal court by Nixa’s only female firefighter detailing claims of sexual harassment, gender discrimination, a hostile work environment and retaliation, reports KY3.

The firefighter was hired in August 2017. Within eight months, her formal complaints started coming in, almost monthly, to her superiors. The firefighter is suing Nixa Fire, the board of directors, and some of the leadership and other firefighters in the district.

The firefighter said she was denied training opportunities, and critiqued differently than the men.
