Rick Haase

Rick Haase is the fire chief of the Staunton (IL) Fire Protection District and owner/operator of Haase Consulting and Training, which specializes in emergency response and safety consulting and training for industry/businesses and municipalities. He is also a hazmat duty officer for the MABAS 35 Haz Mat Team, and fulfills several other functions in area mutual aid teams. Previously, he served as fire chief at the WRB Refining – Phillips 66 Wood River Refinery in Roxana, Illinois. He has served as both the chairman and vice-chairman of the Industrial Fire and Safety Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and is currently an active member of the section. He has also served as a field staff instructor for the Illinois Fire Service Institute for more than 25 years.

It will review initial tactics and strategies, communications, rapid decision making, size-up, accountability, and other critical topics essential to effective incident management during the first 45 minutes of an incident. It will also discuss the importance of pre-incident planning as part of successful industrial incident management. This session will be geared toward initial arriving officers.
