Join us for a discussion with Corely Moore and Stephen Shaw about the firehouse kitchen table's traditions, culture, and importance. The firehouse kitchen table is where morning musters, briefings, training sessions, and the firehouse meals take place. Firefighters typically work 24- or 48-hour shifts, which include several meal times. This time plays a significant role in the leadership dynamics and cohesiveness between members. It serves as a time of interaction and discussions that lead to problem-solving, team building, opportunities for open communication, planning sessions, and incident reviews. This time also provides a relaxed atmosphere that reduces stress. No matter the activity, the kitchen table serves as the center of firehouse communications and comradery.
