ADS secures $4B in fire and emergency services contracts

ADS, Inc., has secured five regional Department of Defense (DoD) contracts totaling up to $4 billion to provide equipment and logistical support to federal and local agencies tasked with responding to fires and other emergencies at military installations, federal agencies and at the state and local level. ADS will be ramping up operations immediately and hiring new employees to fulfill these contracts, as they further expand their capabilities into the first responder sector.

Specifically, ADS will provide up to $800 million in emergency equipment, training and logistical support to federal, state and local first responders in each of the five geographic regions of the United States (Northeast, Southeast, Great Lakes, Midwest, West) for the next two years, with the option to extend each contract for an additional three years.

In efforts to cater to the diverse needs of each respective region, ADS will provide up to 9,000 various fire and rescue equipment items that will be available to each applying locality or agency. Specific items that may be provided include fire emergency devices such as hoses, extinguishers, poles, ladders, and breathing apparatus; hazmat suits, decontamination and detection devices, and protective products, such as, gloves, boots, helmets, and additional supplies to meet the needs of search and rescue operations, such as communication equipment, generators, surveillance and alarm systems.

With over 160 employees nationwide, ADS anticipates doubling this figure over the life of the contract and continuing to expand their Virginia Beach and San Diego, California facilities. They are currently working to secure a wide variety of additional contracts within the DoD and the Department of Homeland Security, and are continuing to field the Army’s Third Generation Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (GEN III ECWCS) to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
