The Marion Township Fire Department, Greensburg, Indiana, protects a rural, nonhydranted area. Firefighter/Paramedic Matt Stone says that shuttles are a top priority at working fires. The department’s MIDWEST pumper/tanker serves as a tanker, engine, and refill unit as well as a blocking apparatus for motor vehicle accidents. It is also their primary mutual-aid vehicle.

  • FREIGHTLINER M2-106 chassis with a 216-inch wheelbase and two-seat cab;
  • CUMMINS L9 350-hp diesel engine;
  • HALE MBP single-stage, 1,000-gpm PTO pump with three crosslays (two 1¾-inch and one 2½-inch);
  • UPF 2,000-gallon water tank with a four-inch direct tank fill and three NEWTON square dump valves (two at the side with 36-inch telescoping chutes and one at the rear with a 12-inch flip chute);
  • Tip-down portable tank carrier with a 2,100-gallon FOL-DA-TANK;
  • ROM roll-up compartment doors;
  • REAR VIEW SAFETY backup camera; and
  • light and power with a HONDA two-kw portable, gasoline driven generator and six WHELEN lights (four scene and two telescoping).
