Three men were injured Friday evening when a driver ran into a Chicago Fire Department vehicle with its lights and sirens activated, triggering a seven-vehicle crash in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city’s South Side, authorities said.

A Jeep was traveling north in the 4700 block of South Indiana Avenue around 5:30 p.m. when it slammed into a Chicago Fire Department vehicle, which was westbound on 47th Street with its emergency equipment activated, police said.

That collision resulted in five additional vehicles being struck, for a total of seven vehicles involved, and three men ages 19, 21 and 28 were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment, police said.

There were no further details available, police said.
