Ohio Firefighters Give Ill Boy a Special Birthday

Nearly 25 volunteer firefighters and paramedics in Perrysburg Township (OH) donated their time during an evening off to create a memorable birthday for an ill 10-year-old boy.

Hunter Bute suffers from Takayasu’s disease, an immune disease that attacks his large arteries. Laura Roberts told the Toledo Blaze (http://bit.ly/HFjjb3) that her son’s love of fire engines grew from the many trips he has taken in ambulances with paramedics and firefighters to emergency rooms.

For his birthday, the Perrysburg crew brought three ladder trucks, a water tanker, fire engine and an ambulance to escort him to his church.  Hospice of Northwest Ohio worked with the Perrysburg Township Fire Department to organize the event.
