LEIGH H. SHAPIRO served 28 years before retiring from his post of deputy chief/senior tour commander on the Hartford (CT) Fire Department. His degrees and certifications include adjunct professor for the University of New Haven’s fire science program, Gateway Community College’s fire technology program, Connecticut’s fire investigator program, member of NFPA 1710, contributor to Jones/Bartlett textbooks, and advisor for Capital City Industries.
