The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a warning concerning 375,000 sheer rayon scarves that failed to pass its flammability tests and which it describes as "dangerously flammable." The scarves violate the Flammable Fabrics Act and are being recalled. They were made in India and were sold nationwide at nearly 2,000 large chain stores and small boutiques. At 11:51 hours on Friday, January 21, 1994, the Lombard (IL) Fire Department 911 dispatcher received a call reporting heavy smoke on the eighth floor of a 12-story high-rise apartment building.
