ALAN BRUNACINI joined the Phoenix (AZ) Fire Department in 1958 and retired as chief in 2006. He has a degree in fire protection from Oklahoma State University and a BS and a maste’’s degree in public administration from Arizona State University. He is the author of Fire Command, Command Safety, Essentials of Fire Department Customer Service, The Anatomy and Physiology of Leadership, Timeless Tactical Truths, and No-Brainer Management.
DENNIS L. RUBIN, CEM, CFOD, CMO, is the principal partner in the fire protection consulting firm D.L. Rubin & Associates. He has served more than 35 years in the fire and rescue service. He hosted the”“Wingspread IV and “” conferences in 1996 and 2006. He is a field instructor with the University of Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute and an associate instructor with the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and Rio Salado Community College in Mesa, Arizona. He has been an adjunct faculty member of the National Fire Academy since 1983. He is the author of Rub’’s Rules for Leadership and D.C. FIRE (Fire Engineering).
