The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is taking its interactive trade show booth to FDIC in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 19-21. Show attendees can stop by booth #9014 in Lucas Oil Stadium to receive free COPD screenings, see an ATV that California Casualty is giving away, enter to win a limited-edition Heritage Coat from Globe, and more

In partnership with Pfizer, the NVFC will offer complimentary chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) screenings at FDIC. COPD, which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis, is a term used to describe the obstruction of airflow. Cigarette smoking is the most common cause of COPD, but breathing in other kinds of irritants, like pollution, dust, or chemicals, can also be a cause or contributing factor. Firefighters need to be especially careful due to the nature of their work.

While at the NVFC booth, attendees can enter to win a Heritage Coat from Globe, which is a limited-edition reproduction of the first turnout coat ever made. Globe invented firefighter turnout gear in 1887, and in honor of their 125th anniversary Globe has partnered with Dupont and the NVFC to donate 125 sets of gear in 2012. Information about this donation program will also be available at the booth. In addition, California Casualty is giving away an ATV, and you can stop by the NVFC booth to see the Polaris Sportsman and find out how to enter. NVFC tools and resources to assist first responders and departments will also be available for free at the booth.
