Scott Introduces TIC, Incident Command Suite, Wireless Communication System at FDIC Intl. 2015

Scott EPIC products

During a press briefing at FDIC International 2015, Scott Safety personnel brought fire service media representatives up to speed on what has been a busy time for the company. During the last six months, the company made two substantial acquisitions and has brought several products to market in time for the show. Products introduced this year include: the X380N thermal imaging camera; EPIC 3 RI (Radio Interface), that provides Bluetooth interface for radio communications from the mask-mounted amp; and Imperium accountability software.

The first acquisition Scott Safety representatives spoke about was announced back in November 2014 when the company bought ISG/Infrasys, a designer of thermal imaging cameras. The combination of the two companies makes Tyco, Scott Safety’s parent company, one of the largest global suppliers of handheld thermal imaging cameras.

A recently closed deal was the acquisition of Industrial Safety Technologies (IST), a leader in gas and flame detection, for $329.5 million. According to the company, the combination of IST and Scott Safety makes Tyco one of the largest global designers and manufacturers of gas and flame detection products.

On the product front, Scott is introducing the NFPA-compliant X380N thermal imaging camera at the show. It’s powered by ISG technology and features the exclusive hot and cold spot tracker technology, which immediately identifies the hottest or coldest area of a scene for better informed decisions.

The Imperium incident command suite

The Imperium incident command suite responds to market requests for a more automated, simpler way to manage incident command activities. Imperium ICS for Windows and its companion products can be used with any SCBA.

The Scott EPIC products include the EPIC Voice Amplifier for person-to-person commuincations and the EPIC Wireless Communications System for both remote and local communications. These are used with SCBA.

Regarding FDIC International, Jeff Emery, global marketing director, says, “International attendance has increased each year, and Scott has a portfolio of products meeting global firefighting requirements. We are planning multiple events to include our international attendees.”
