The Rincon Reservation Fire Department, Valley Center, California, designed this PIERCE pumper for multiuse, says Captain Bob VanScyoc. The department has a large urban interface, and the vehicle’s size allows it to traverse narrow roads where full-size apparatus cannot. It also responds to EMS calls if needed.

The High Rolls (NM) Fire Department uses this FREEDOM FIRE EQUIPMENTrescue truck to respond to highway accidents, structure fires, and mountain rescue operations, explains Chief Mark Klaene. It is also second out for medical calls.

The Glascow (WV) Volunteer Fire Department protects a 14-square-mile, mostly rural area of which only half has hydrants. This ALEXIS tanker responds to all nonhydranted areas, says Chief Marty Blankenship. The pump-and-roll capability with front bumper turret aids in wildland firefighting.
