The Rincon Reservation Fire Department, Valley Center, California, designed this PIERCE pumper for multiuse, says Captain Bob VanScyoc. The department has a large urban interface, and the vehicle’s size allows it to traverse narrow roads where full-size apparatus cannot. It also responds to EMS calls if needed.

• INTERNATIONAL 7400 4 × 4 chassis with 179-inch wheelbase and five-seat cab;
• INTERNATIONAL DT 570E 330-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVSP automatic transmission;

• DARLEY JMP two-stage, 500-gpm pto pump with HYPRO Foam Pro 1600 system, 1½- and 1¾-inch front bumper lines, two 1¾-inch crosslays, and a ¾-inch booster reel midship;
• DARLEY 1½ AGE 150-gpm @ 120 psi auxiliary pump with BRIGGS & STRATTON 26-hp engine;
• UPF 500-gallon water and 28-gallon foam tanks;
• four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;

The High Rolls (NM) Fire Department uses this FREEDOM FIRE EQUIPMENTrescue truck to respond to highway accidents, structure fires, and mountain rescue operations, explains Chief Mark Klaene. It is also second out for medical calls.

The Glascow (WV) Volunteer Fire Department protects a 14-square-mile, mostly rural area of which only half has hydrants. This ALEXIS tanker responds to all nonhydranted areas, says Chief Marty Blankenship. The pump-and-roll capability with front bumper turret aids in wildland firefighting.
