The unit also has firefighting capability if the need arises while units are awaiting a pumper. It also responds to medical calls, motor vehicle accidents, technical rescues (as a regional resource), and hazmat responses.

The Fairbank (IA) Fire Department protects a jurisdiction of both city and rural areas with this pumper/tanker built by MIDWEST FIRE TANKER. Firefighter/EMT Drake Mangrich says the bumper turret can be used for brush fires, and the large water tank used for a strong initial fire attack and water shuttles.

The City of Las Vegas (NV) Fire & Rescue designed this air/light unit built by SVI TRUCKS to be an operational support unit. Apparatus Project Manager Eric Scheumann says the unit has a rehab side designed to remain quiet while the compressor is running on the other side. A diverter allows exhaust to be routed vertically, and an automatic opening roof hatch lets the unit run with only the driver’s side door open.
