One highlight of this Saulsbury rescue unit is its heavy-duty, electric cable reels, which can be attached to a generator and drawn into the fire building. This allows lighting units to be placed in various parts of the building so every floor can be illuminated. It is especially useful for apartment house fires and makes for safer operations.

The truck, which has been in operation for almost one year in the East Orange, NJ, Fire Department, is a “standard workhorse” and has a stainless steel body to help protect it against the weather elements fora longer life. It is able to carry four firefighters within the truck body.

The unit is mounted on a Ford Model LN-8000 chassis. It is powered by a Caterpillar Model 3208-T diesel engine with 225 hp and Allison Model MT-643 automatic transmission.
