A 4-door crew cab, top-mount control panel, and deluge gun in the center behind the pump panel are some of the features of the Pierce Arrow pumper built for Springfield Township, Akron, OH, by Pierce Manufacturing Inc. Mounted on a 200-inch wheelbase Pierce Arrow 4-door chassis with 139 1/2-inch C.A., the unit is powered by a CV92TA Detroit diesel engine with an Allison HT-740 automatic transmission. The crew cab is enclosed. The unit has a 1,250-gpm Waterous pump and 1,250-gallon tank.

The Hawthorne, NJ, Volunteer Fire Department is operating this ladder truck at their Company 2. It features a Ladder Towers Inc. (LTI) 85-foot platform, mounted on a Hahn Model 92 chassis with Detroit diesel engine and Allison automatic transmission. The four-inch waterway is supplied by a 2 1/2 inch tri-siamese at the rear of the truck. A 12-kw generator supplies two 100,000-cp floodlights on the truck and two 25,000-cp floodlights in the basket.

The Department of Energy facility at Amarillo, TX, has recently taken delivery of a new Super Custom Pumper built by W.S. Darley & Co. The chassis is a Hendrickson 1871S with a five-man canopy crew cab. It is powered by a Detroit V-8 diesel and has an Allison automatic transmission. It can develop 370 horsepower at 2,100 rpms. The midship pump is a Darley Champion two-stage Model S, rated at 1,000 gpm. Capacity of the T-shape booster tank is 1,000 gallons.
