The Oakland Township (MI) Fire Department placed in service three pumpers and one pumper/tanker, all built by MARION BODY. Chief Bill Benoit says the department designed all vehicles to obtain and discharge water quickly. The pumper/tanker is used in areas where hydrants are still scarce and many homes require large flows.

- SPARTAN Gladiator MFD chassis with 209-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab;
- DETROIT Series 60 430-hp diesel engine with ALLISON HD 4060PR automatic transmission;
- HALE Qmax single-stage, 2,000-gpm pump with topmount panel, six-inch front intake/discharge, 21/2-inch front bumper discharge with wye for 11/2-inch trashline and connection to vacuum assist on low-level strainer, two 13/4-inch crosslays, 21/2-inch rear preconnect, and TFT Crossfire monitor with Extenda-Gun;
- UPF 1,250-gallon water, 10-gallon A, and 40-gallon B foam tanks;
- HALE Foam Master foam system;
- four-inch rear direct tank fill;
- ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors;
- two GFE midship extendable floodlights and eight WHELEN fixed scene lights;
- ZICO rack for ladders and pike poles; and
- 2,100-gallon FOL-DA-TANK in enclosed compartment with rear access.

- UPF 3,000-gallon water tank with four-inch rear direct fill and three E J METALS six-inch dump valves (left, right, and rear) controlled from rear or driver’s seat;
- ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors;
- two FRC scene lights (one on each side) and eight WHELEN fixed scene lights (three on each side, two at rear); and
- 3,000-gallon FOL-DA-TANK in enclosed compartment.
The Willimantic Fire Department, which protects a district in the Town of Windham, Connecticut, designed its LIFELINE ambulance as a smaller vehicle with a lower center of gravity. Firefighter/EMT Peter Bruscato explains that the department wanted a maneuverable vehicle to serve an urban area.
