The Wilbur (NE) Fire Department designed this DANKO tanker with a short wheelbase for more maneuverability when driven off-road and when using the spray bars. Chief Scott Havel says the vehicle’s weight was kept down so it could safely cross bridges in the district.

- FREIGHTLINER m2 106 chassis with 192-inch wheelbase and three-seat cab;
- CUMMINS ISC 300-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
- WATEROUS 3030 single-stage, 100- to 400-gpm pump with 23-hp KUBOTA engine with 1¾-inch rear preconnected crosslay and two front ground sweep nozzles;
- UPF 3,000-gallon water tank with 2½-inch rear tank fill and three-way NEWTON 10-inch dump valves;
- ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors;
- two DANKO portable tank brackets; and
- 2,100-gallon portable FOL-DA-TANK.
The Franklin (PA) Fire Department replaced a “straight ladder” with this PIERCE platform quint. Chief James L. Wetzel says the platform better addresses rescue and safety, particularly when the elderly and handicapped (who occupy many local multistoried apartment buildings) are involved. It is a second-out vehicle, except for special calls.

- Velocity chassis with 263-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab with 10-inch raised roof;
- DETROIT Series 60 515-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 4000 EVS-P automatic transmission;
- WATEROUS CSU single-stage, 2,000-gpm pump with three crosslays (two 1¾-inch; one 2½-inch) and 1¾-inch front bumper line;
- UPF 300-gallon water tank;
- 100-foot platform with 1,000-pound (dry) and 500-pound (wet) payloads, 16-foot outrigger spread, two ELKHART Scorpion monitors (one each electric and manual), and support at the front for LYFELINE rescue equipment;
- GORTITE roll-up compartment doors and six wheel well sleeves (five for spare SCBA cylinders and one for general storage);
- 125 feet of ground ladders;
- ONSPOT tire chains; and
- light and power with HARRISON 15-kw hydraulic generator, eight FRC floodlights (two each behind cab, midship, under platform facing out, and under platform facing ground), four HAVIS SHIELDS COLLINS spot/floodlights (two each on platform and front of ladder storage boxes), two WHELEN scene lights on cab, and two HANNAY electric cord reels.
The Perry Joint Fire District, Perry, Ohio, replaced an older rescue pumper with this HME state-of-the-art designed and equipped rescue pumper with stainless-steel body, says Lieutenant Tim Sitz.

- 1871P MFDXL chassis with 204-inch wheelbase and four-seat cab with medical cabinet;
- CUMMINS ISL 400-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
- HALE Qmax single-stage, 1,500-gpm pump with five-inch front intake, three crosslays (two 1¾-inch; one 2½-inch), 1¾-inch front bumper line, 2½-inch rear discharge, and ELKHART Stinger RF and Rapid Attack monitors;
- floating hose wells (mounted midship and not bolted down to their brackets. Easily removed and replaced when damaged if operator bottoms out the pumper).
- APR 1,000-gallon water tank;
- enclosed ladder storage;
- four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
