The Milford (IA) Fire Department has in service this CENTRAL STATES rescue and extrication truck. Assistant Chief Emil Richter says that the area has a heavy summer population that uses local highways and rural roads, with numerous vehicle accidents as a result. The new truck has a longer body and more lighting than the previous unit.

- HME Penetrator chassis, 216-inch wheelbase, and 24-inch raised roof cab with four seats and medical cabinet;
- CUMMINS ISC 330-hp diesel engine with ALLISON MD 3060P automatic transmission;
- 20-foot walk-in rescue body with walk-through from cab, ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors, and two outside compartments for long spine boards;
- RAMSEY front-mounted, six-ton winch;
- two HURST Simo pumps ahead of rear wheels (one each side), with reels, attachments, and air bags; and
- light and power with WINCO 35-kw and SMART POWER 5.5 kw PTO generators, two nine-kw SVI Command Lights, 14 FRC Focus floodlights (two each on front and sides of cab, two behind body on roof, two on roof facing upward to illuminate power lines, four ditch lights on sides of roof, and two rear on tripods), six WHELEN fixed scene lights on side and rear of body, and four HANNAY electric cord reels.
The St. Johnsbury (VT) Fire Department uses its EMERGENCY ONE pumper as a first-out fire suppression unit in its urban district. It has a large water tank for nonhydranted rural areas, according to Chief Troy D. Ruggles.

- light and power with A.M.P.S. six-kw hydraulic PTO generator and two HAVIS SHIELDS floodlights (two telescopic on rear of cab and two on tripods at rear).
The Prince George’s County (MD)Fire/EMS Department has five SEAGRAVE pumpers in service that use the county’s standardized hosebed and body, according to Chief Mark E. Brady. The county is one-third rural and two-thirds residential, industrial, and commercial.
