The Riverton (WY) Regional Airport designed its KME crash truck as an Index B unit. Airport Supervisor Paul Griffin says that the airport is rated for an Index A truck (which has a smaller tank), but added funding from surrounding agencies allowed this truck to be designed with the larger tank needed.

The East Joliet (IL) Fire Department designed its ALEXIS fire/rescue truck to handle an expanded inventory that includes some haz-mat equipment, according to Deputy Chief Kirk D. Kelly. The unit responds to many motor vehicle accidents.

The Fulton County (GA) Fire Department placed this CENTRAL STATES pumper (one of four) in service. Public Information Officer Reginald S. Smith says that each unit has a short wheelbase for maneuverability, a water tank and body designed for greater compartment space, and severe-duty cab interior finish.
