APPARATUS INNOVATIONS/DELIVERIES

A Pierce Arrow unit was recently delivered to Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 in Doylestown, PA. It features a 1,250-gpm Waterous pump, 1,000-gallon booster tank, a Detroit 6V92TA engine, and an Allison HT740 transmission, it has an Onan 6-kw generator with five-inch front suction. There are three 1 3/4-inch preconnects, one with a foam eductor, and two 2 1/2-inch preconnects. The hosebeds are 2,000 feet with a five-inch hose and 400 feet with a three-inch hose. There is one five-inch rear intake.

A Reading Ready-Rescue Van mounted on a Ford E-350 chassis was recently delivered to the Bushnell, IL, Fire Protection District. Constructed of A-60 zinc-coated steel, the van body is strengthened with its panels electrically welded into a single unit. Structural steel girders forming the understructure are braced and reinforced at all critical stress points.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department recently took delivery of a total of 21 new pumpers manufactured by FMC Corporation’s Fire Apparatus Division. All The FMC-Van Pelt Custom Firefighters are mounted on Hendrickson 1871 CS chassis and are equipped with 1,000-gpm pumps and 500-gallon tanks. Three of the 21 new pumpers are shown here.
