● The Norfolk (MA) Fire Department designed its E-ONE pumper to be multi-task functional, according to Lieutenant Peter Petruchik. Responding first-due to structural fires, haz mats, and MVAs, it has a large water tank since part of the jurisdiction is unhydranted.

● The Jefferson Township Fire Department, in Blue Creek, Ohio, designed its PIERCE pumper with an engine powerful enough to climb hills and rough areas, explains Chief Thomas Hackworth. The roll-up doors work well in narrow areas and the two-door cab reduces the unit’s length, allowing easier access to tight spaces.

●The Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District in Zephyr Cove, Nevada, replaced its 75-foot platform with this taller SEAGRAVE Tower Max. Battalion Chief Van Ogami says that a platform enhances rescue operations from ski area gondolas and cliffs, and is also advantageous at high-rise fires and as a multitask unit with its pump and tank.
