An early morning fire caused by an electrical issue damaged Ridgeville Fire Station 8 in Dorchester County on Tuesday.
Firefighters responded to the station around 2:00 a.m. after an electrical short in the station’s brush truck set fire to it. The truck was destroyed in the fire, but crews were able to contain the fire before it completely destroyed the station, WCBD reports.
Dorchester County Fire Rescue is working to restore the station. Meanwhile, firefighters will temporarily operate from Givhans Fire Station 12. Additionally, Jedburg Fire Station 10 will assist with coverage in portions of the Ridgeville.
The cause of the electrical short is under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
