Fire Apparatus Crashes While Responding to PA Fire

A fire truck responding to a structure fire Friday evening in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, was involved in a collision with a pickup truck, according to a report.

Pennlive.com reported that, according to Ephrata police, around 7:08 p.m., fire crews from the Ephrata (PA) Fire Department were responding to a working fire on the 1500 block of Division Highway in Ephrata Township.

Aa responding Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company Ladder Truck was about a block away from the fire when police say a pickup truck turned into its path, the report said. The oncoming ladder truck struck the pickup truck, police said, and the 38-year-old driver was transported to the hospital.

Out of precaution, all firefighters on the ladder truck were taken to the hospital, and were discharged without injury.

Both the apparatus and pickup truck were inoperable and had to be towed from the crash scene. The driver was reportedly cited.
