Rochester (NY) – A large police presence could not deter violence from returning to the streets of northeast Rochester Sunday night following the Puerto Rican Festival, which concluded around 8 p.m. at Frontier Field.

Rochester police officers responded to two stabbings that occurred within minutes of each other around 9 p.m. in the vicinity of Hudson Avenue, where much of the trouble was centered. The male victims, 43 and 22, suffered non-life threatening injuries to the upper body.

Police said there was no indication the stabbings were related to the festival.

In all, five arrests were made related to the festival, three for disorderly conduct and two traffic arrests for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to police.

Police also reported that the windshield of a Rochester fire department truck was damaged by a thrown rock.
