Four Firefighters Hospitalized After Indianapolis Fire Apparatus Rolls Over

Four Indianapolis (IN) firefighters were injured when the vehicle they were traveling in rolled over while they were en route to a crash scene.

Tactical Truck 43 (TAC43) had lights and sirens activated and was headed to the scene of a vehicle accident with possible entrapment at 30th and Massachusetts Ave. on Saturday, August 3, 2024. TAC43 made an attempt to maneuver around slowed traffic and a “wide load” being escorted by Indiana State Police officers, but it was not successful, according to a release from the department.

All four members sustained some level of injury from minor to serious but not life-threatening. They were being treated at area hospitals after being transported by IEMS Medics.

One person was killed in the original accident, which had involved a semi vs. a red car.

The weekend saw a number of other apparatus-involved accidents, including a collision between a vehicle and an apparatus in downtown St. Paul that left one woman dead.
